A Year of Giving Back: NABIP Treasure Valley Raises $35,160 for Idaho Communities in 2025
How Idaho's health insurance professionals turned three events into a year of lasting impact
There is a version of a professional association that shows up for its members and goes home. The NABIP Treasure Valley Chapter is not that association.
In 2025, the chapter's more than 150 health insurance and benefits professionals raised a combined $35,160 across three charity events — supporting Rays for Rare, the Idaho Crisis & Suicide Hotline, and City Light Home for Women. It was the chapter's most impactful year of charitable giving on record, and a reflection of what happens when a community of professionals decides that their work doesn't stop at the office door.
The year began with a Top Golf event that raised $4,560 for Rays for Rare, an organization that supports families navigating the isolating and often underfunded world of rare disease. It continued with the chapter's 6th Annual Charity Golf Scramble, which raised $9,600 for the Idaho Crisis & Suicide Hotline — a resource that provides an essential lifeline for Idahoans in mental health crisis. And it ended with a record-breaking Christmas Auction that raised $21,000 for City Light Home for Women, whose "Hope Shines Bright" theme proved to be exactly right.
What makes these numbers remarkable is not just the total — it is the consistency. Year after year, the NABIP Treasure Valley Chapter shows up for its community not because it is required to, but because its members believe in the same thing they help their clients believe in every day: that being prepared, being supported, and being cared for matters.
"This is who we are," said Marcia Benton, Chapter president. "We work in health insurance because we want people to be taken care of. The charity work is just that same instinct, showing up in a different way."
As the chapter looks toward 2026 — including its 7th Annual Charity Golf Scramble benefiting Rays for Rare — the bar has been set. And if 2025 is any indication, the NABIP Treasure Valley Chapter is ready to clear it.

Past President's Message: Knute Kleven
Past President's Message:

As my tenure as the president of the Treasure Valley Chapter of the National Association of Benefits and Insurance Professionals comes to a close, I find myself reflecting deeply on the incredible journey we have shared together over the past year. It has been an honor and a privilege to serve such a dedicated and passionate group of professionals who are truly the backbone of our industry.
First and foremost, I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to each and every one of you for your unwavering support, commitment, and enthusiasm. Without your active participation and invaluable contributions, our chapter would not have achieved the successes we have enjoyed. From organizing and attending insightful presentations to fostering meaningful networking opportunities, together, we have strengthened our community and elevated the standard of excellence in our field.
Thanks to your support and donations over the past year we accomplished many things. We were able to donate school supplies to many schools throughout the Treasure Valley. We held a Golf Tournament, Christmas Auction, and Top Golf Event where we raised funds for several charities and delivered checks in the amount of $23,370 (which doesn’t include members direct donations) to charities including the Idaho Crisis & Suicide Hotline & City Light. We held a well-attended Community Health Insurance Awareness Day event in conjunction Live After Five in Downtown Boise. Our Chapter earned NABIP’s Prestigious Gold Status, The Robert W. Osler Professional Development Award (For outstanding achievement in promoting health insurance educational activities). We earned the Pacesetter Award. We also earned the Local Website Award presented to Local Chapters with the most effective and easily used websites!
I am especially grateful to the Board, all Committee Members, and our Executive Assistant--Sebrina Chevalier-Koehler, who have worked tirelessly alongside me. Your dedication and teamwork have been nothing short of inspiring, and it has been a pleasure collaborating with such talented individuals who share a common vision for our profession.
As I pass the baton to our incoming president Marcia Benton, I am confident that our chapter will continue to thrive and grow under her capable leadership. Let us extend our full support and cooperation to ensure a seamless transition and continued prosperity for the National Association of Benefits and Insurance Professionals-Treasure Valley Chapter.
In parting, I leave you with a quote that has guided me throughout my term:
*"Alone, we can do so little; together, we can do so much."* – Helen Keller
All ships truly do rise with the tide!
Thank you once again for the privilege of serving as your president. It has been an honor that I will forever cherish. I look forward to seeing our chapter's continued success in the future.
Make it a great day!
Respectfully,
Knute M. Kleven

NAHU Family Glitch Final Rule Recording
*** IMPORTANT: Family Glitch Final Rule – NAHU Webinar Recording
HHS recently released a final rule with the intent of fixing the ACA "family glitch." The final rule revises the definition of "affordability" of employer-sponsored coverage as it applies specifically to family members of the employee. Most of the rule goes into effect for the 2023 tax year, meaning family members who qualify can enroll in subsidized marketplace coverage for 2023. Do you have questions about the final regulation on the family glitch?

TVAHU 2021 City Light Women's and Children's Shelter Donation

The TVAHU Annual Charity Breakfast and Silent Auction was a success for 2021! As the community service chair, it was an honor and privilege to give back to our community. Our organization was able to raise a total of $9,481 for City Light Women’s and Children’s Shelter! This includes the generous cash match donation from Fredrickson Insurance.
The silent auction was all virtual which allowed for an expanded audience and more competitive bidding! The breakfast was in person at Beside Bardenay in Downtown Boise which was great to see everyone and celebrate the holiday season together. The speakers were some of the women from City Light that shared their success stories and what the organization means to them. None of this would be possible without the support of our board AND membership.
Thank you to everyone that participated from donating baskets, buying tickets to the breakfast and cash donations!
